The Catcher in the Rye Summary: Holden is sixteen years old at a pirvate school that he don't want to be at. He is depressed which is making him fail his classes. As an result he is expelled. He considers he is already expelled he just leaves.He hoes to New york where his parents and little sister lives, but he doesn't not go home. He lives in a hotel and gets himself into trouble with a pimp and his girl. he then decides to leave after this happens. He sleeps in the park for a few hours snd then on the go. He meets up witha couple of old friends through the book. After a fight with an old friend Holden decides to check on this little sister Phoebe. His parents still don't know that he got kicked out of school. he sneaks in and there is only his little sister there. his younger brother died of leukemia, and his oldest brother is in Hollywood. he talks with his sister and she finds out that he got kicked out of school and she is very scared and mad at him. She thinks that their dad will kill him. After an hour his parnts come home and he sneaks out in an instant. he has no where to stay so he goes to an old teachers house to spend the night. When Holden gets there he talks with his teacher Mr. Antolini for a while, but then get very tried. Mr. Antolini leaves and holden goes to sleep and then he suddenly wakes up to Mr. Antolini rubbing his forhead Thinking that Mr. Antolini is making a homosexual overture Holden Leaves. He goes to Phoebe school to tell her to meet him. during lunch Phoebe meets Holden and she gets upset with him again. To make it up to her he takes her to the carousel. He starts to cry and the book ends. All through the book he is drinking heavily and very depressed. Right before the end we find out that Holden was telling his story in a psychiatric facility.

She knocked me out hough" ( Salinger 76-77) Holden really liked her and alwasy wiashed that they had adated. He wansted many times to call her, but was scared. He was always depressed after seeing her.
" Pency is my fourth school; i have already failed out of threee others. Now i am being expelled and my parnts know nothing about it" ( Salinger 17)
After all his drinking , and being depressed Holden ended up in a psychiatric facility. He kept holding on to the past and it made him depressed.
